Sokka pauses. “What do you remember from last night?”
Zuko swallows. “Do you want to actually know or do you want me to lie and we can pretend yesterday never happened?”
Sokka’s silent. He sits up, looking over at Zuko as the movie drones on behind them. His eyebrows are slightly furrowed, freckles dotting his cheeks and hair down and Zuko’s struck yet again by just how pretty he is.
“I wanna know,” Sokka says, serious expression unwavering.

Things get messy after Zuko drunkenly kisses Sokka at a party.

The Fire Nation was hot in the summer in a way that made Sokka’s tunic stick uncomfortably to his skin during the afternoon. He felt it in his muscles when he was sparring with Suki and Zuko, the way the sun beat down without forgiveness. He’d told Zuko about the midnight sun once; the way it hung heavy over the horizon but never sank. Zuko said he’d see it one day, and Sokka believed him.
