Summary
After watching Yang fall to her (seeming) demise, Penny Polendina makes a rash decision, attempting to take her fate into her own hands ever so slightly earlier than she would have otherwise.
Such an action at such an important moment in history, however, has quite the butterfly effect.
A (mostly) for-fun rewrite of the end of volume 8 and volume 9, only made possible through the power of already having canon to work off of, and fan-writers having way more time to think about things than the original authors do. I seriously doubt I'm a better writer than the writers at CRWBY, but some of their choices are a bit... subpar in hindsight—but as they say, hindsight is always 20/20. Writing original stories is hard.
