Summary
The two of them work for a tiny, independent Las Vegas magazine called The Courier. It’s disorganized as hell and sometimes feels like a whacked-out daycare, but the writing is honest and incisive, work is steady, and the pay’s enough to get by on.
By some stupid turn of events, Arcade and the incredibly uncommunicative photographer are driving north under the blinding hot Mojave sun on an assignment that’s a good three hours away from central air and the office mini fridge.

Arcade gazes blandly at a ripped carwash banner fluttering wistfully from said building as he waits for the light to change. They’re a long ways away from the land of stripmalls and personal injury lawyer billboards; away from the hordes of people doing their own jobs to keep the city oozing along and the tourists drunk and happy and spending money. Which is, on a much grander scale, nearly as pointless as the two of them being at this empty little blip on the side of the ninety-three.
Makes one really stop and think about this mysterious CARWAS. Was any of us? Really?
boone coming untouched from jacking someone off is the only correct way to write boone having sex. canon characterization imo.

Summary
“If it hatches before we reach land in two months, Lieutenant Laurence will make the attempt.” Barstowe’s watery blue eyes gleamed. As if Laurence had voiced an objection, he said, “I cannot spare the other lieutenants, nor can I let a midshipman leap so high in position, even if it is to an inferior service. You will harness the beast.”
Laurence found his voice and said, with steadiness that surprised even him, “I am perfectly willing to try. However, I have not been trained in any of the methods used in the Corps.”
“You’d best figure them out, then,” Barstowe said. He smiled, revealing his yellowed teeth. Laurence felt his mouth tighten, and refused to drop his gaze. “After all, failing to harness such a valuable beast could only be called a betrayal to his Majesty, and you’d have to face the consequences.”

Summary
“I thought you might like to be tied with your own cravat.”
Montparnasse refused to visibly react. She was the same as always - inelegant and blunt, almost hideously straightforward. Montparnasse was a man of taste, and Éponine had no palate to speak of.
But sometimes, even an inelegant meal was satisfying. And he did want to be tied with his own cravat.

Summary
"Oh, Captain?” Charles paused at the open door. “You mentioned a Captain Flint earlier. Would this be the Flint who sacked and burned the Maria Aleyne? About, oh, seven years back?”
“Not a clue,” said Charles. “He’s the only Flint in these parts, though. Why?”
“I’d just rather like to shake the fellow’s hand, is all,” said Hamilton quietly.Bookmarked by throesofecstasy

“Captain Vane, I would like to see my husband. I insist on it.”
“And if I refuse?” said Charles, grinning down at her. A fine lady, this one, and he’d always loved that fancy accent.
“Then you’re lying,” said Flint, “and I will raze the fort to the ground, kill your crew, and stake you out on the beach to die as slowly as I can manage for putting his name in your filthy mouth.”
“Jesus Christ,” said Billy.

His friend eyed the sled skeptically. “I’m certain this sled was made for one small child, not two grown men.”
“That is no matter,” said Courfeyrac. “We are revolutionaries, and therefore not slaves to convention. Besides-“ He grinned. “You will fit easily- you are not very big.”
