Summary
Izuku is never born. He just wakes up one day.
He stands up and looks around, and as he feels the life of everything in the forest thriving around him, he feels an inescapable, unstoppable urge to protect it.
That's his purpose. The knowledge slots into place in his mind like a jigsaw piece.
1000 years later, Aizawa is still not entirely sure what exactly Izuku is, although Izuku has tried to explain it to him several times before. All he really understands is that the human boy he finds lurking in his office every so often is only human when he wants to be (which isn't particularly often), and that even though it's been about 20 years since the two of them met, Izuku hasn't aged a day.
or: izuku is a shapeshifter whose job is to protect life, and after a thousand years of wandering the planet, he somehow finds himself working as an undercover operative alongside a very attractive and very mortal blonde man who he might, just maybe, have fallen in love in with. oops.

Karma's suspension ended a few weeks into the start of term.
When he greeted Nagisa, the sun behind him darkening his shape into a silhouette, his grin was almost sadistic, his voice dripping with sarcasm, thick like honeyed poison. He loved the way Nagisa's face seemed to cycle through ten different emotions in one split second.
It was always easier for Karma to treat people like playthings.

Bill found out from Darcy, who just silently pushed the paper into his chest that morning, eyes dull and fists clenched. I don't understand why we can't all just get along, he had once said to Bill. Darcy was peaceful, and kind, and had unwavering faith in the nature of people, and Bill hoped to God that he would never have to even hold a gun, let alone shoot another man.
