It wasn’t the procedure of having teeth pulled that frightened her, Natasha knew this. It was the chair that held her mind hostage with memories she’d rather forget. It was the syringes filled with unknown substances entering her skin. The large bright light above her.
“Slow down baby. Listen to my voice, alright?” Natasha was drenched in guilt but she tried not to let her own worry seep in. She had no other choice than to go on this mission. She was on her way home, in the quinjet to be exact, yet she was still too damn far away.

Summary
When Nick Fury gets a call that Bruce Banner was involved in a plane crash, he goes to Tisch hospital to investigate. The last person he expects to see there is Natasha Romanoff- certainly not in a floral dress and heavily pregnant to boot. But as the secrets she tried to keep hidden come to light, Fury realizes that he's definitely not as clued into the lives of his agents as he once thought.
As Natasha waits in perpetual purgatory for some kind of answer to what has happened, she reckons with the choices she made to protect her family, and will have to call upon the family she found in her teammates to help her get through the hardest time of her life. But all things are not as they appear, and as she struggles, something more sinister brews without her knowledge, and may cost her everything she holds dear.

The first time Robin noticed it, Steve was helping a customer at Family Video.
He was in the middle of a sentence, i the middle of a transaction behind the register when his eyes drifted up towards the ceiling and his voice trailed off. His jaw shifted around and he chewed on his tongue.
It was like he was completely vacant.
It lasted a few seconds, and he snapped back in, finishing his sentence and continuing the transaction like nothing happened.-
