Summary
Water. It envelops her in a splash and a blur of cold, catches her in her fall. Slowly, gently, the current rights them, and Apo finds their footing in the gravelly riverbed and straightens their legs, swaying.
Cold riverwater rushes down their body, dripping from their hair, and it leaves them faster than it should and drier than it should; though they are still wet, it is not uncomfortably so. Apo is surrounded in it. Safe.
For the first time since she turned, the hunger and shadow of (un)death are near drowned out—by safety—and for the first time in years she dares realise the source of it. Water is safe.

Summary
At the end of the school day, Aya has to wait to be picked up instead of walking home with her friends. Kunikida arrives in his car, having carved out time in his schedule to get her on the days when her dad can’t, which is most of them.
Today, Dazai sits in the passenger seat, fiddling with the radio dial. He ignores Aya like he always does as Kunikida helps her into the car. He’s probably only here because he wanted to skip out on work. Kunikida says he likes to do that.
Aya’s crutches go on the empty seat beside her, where Dazai’s cane is already lying. It looks less lonely now, at least. She wishes that were enough to make her feel better.

What if Avid didn't call Shelby out to the Obelisk in Episode 5? What if he thought he didn't deserve to be saved? What if he did invite someone to the Obelisk after all?
AKA
Avid is dying, he knows he is, has been for years. Scott's mentions of a cure through vampirism tempted him, but he didn't deserve it. He knows he won't live through the night, and goes out to the Obelisk for peace. But, he doesn't plan to die alone, and he only knows of one person who truly wants him dead.
Owen was left an odd message by Avid to meet him at the obelisk that night. Interested and slightly amused, he turns up expecting a trap. Instead, he is faced with a dying human who reminds him a bit too much of his final moments with Louis.
