"Yeah, I says. What're you gonna do about it, pipsqueak? Gimme a pinch?" The talon on Dedan's thumb prods Japhet's fragile chest, eliciting a noise.

Dedan flared his nostrils; it was too much for his lasting patience to endure, yet too little to simply go back to Zone 1. He rose to see what stood behind the Guardian. A chunky hand blocked his vision at the same instant. “Goddamn, Enoch! It’s almost 8:00 PM and I’m not even supposed to be here. I’ll leave you alone for fifty damn minutes if I get an answer first.”
Enoch took some steps backwards. “Don’t laugh at me, okay?”Dedan nodded. The giant allowed his incoming, and he saw a cathode-ray tube TV turned on to a telenovela debut vignette.
“You watch soap operas?” Dedan questioned.
