Summary
Like a ticking time bomb, Eddie will tell Buck to look down at his hands to find Eddie’s heart stuck in his grasp and then they will deal with the fall out, the pieces they’ll need to pick up off the ground of Eddie’s heart if Buck doesn’t want it the way Eddie does.
But then Chris got pneumonia, and it deftly took over both their lives. Eddie looks into Buck’s eyes, the moonlight making them shine, and the pink of his lips matches the birthmark on his forehead perfectly, and Eddie doesn’t know which he wants to kiss more in that moment.
“Gross, guys,” Chris wrinkles his nose, closing his eyes around a sigh.

Chris gets sick, loses part of his memory, and reassures Eddie and Buck they can still kiss in front of him. That's really thoughtful of him, except for the fact that Eddie and Buck aren't dating.

“What are these?” Innocently Eddie’s thumbs run over them each framing the sculpted figure of his pecs.
“They're–” Buck stops, takes a breath to steady his rapidly beating heart, and grounds himself back in the moment. He reminds himself that he’s talking to Eddie. “But with Bobby, I’ve been trying to do better,” Eddie says.
A hand rests on his shoulder, a thumb stroking. It’s a familiar gesture, but the fingers aren’t calloused enough to be her brother’s. Maddie’s fingers are slimmer, more delicate. It eases the hurt all the same.
“I think you have been,” Maddie reassures him, “at least you’re not joining illegal fight clubs this time. Just very legal book clubs.”
Eddie snorts. The callout was unexpected.
“You’re not what?” Karen’s eyes bulge out of her head as she sits back down.
Eddie chuckles and finally meets Maddie’s gaze. “I hate that Buck tells you everything.”
OR: Eddie joins a book club with Maddie and Karen after Bobby’s death, while Buck slowly drifts away.
