But now, lying on his bed, hands wrapped around his stomach tightly, injured hand he couldn’t even wrap properly– like a bumbling idiot– tucked close to him, his brain feeding him pictures of the now-cold beef stew on the kitchen table while simultaneously shaming him for thinking of eating, he wished he wasn’t blessed. Wished for his power to be unconditional, for it to be activated all times. Or never. He’d take never. Because never meant he wouldn’t have to work himself to the bone, lifting things and doing errands for civilians. Those can take a toll on anybody, even Kenji. He doesn’t really have time during a day where he unwinds and ‘relaxes’. Because Kenji didn’t like relaxing, didn’t like sitting still when he could be out helping. Didn’t like being useless.
Kenji squeezed his eyes shut. Curling into himself, acid in his throat as he breathed in, and out. Shaky. Hoarse. Wavering.
He wants to go home.
Kenji's hungry. So, so hungry.
