Something inside him lurched. The beige ceiling appeared. His tongue wanted to move so bad that tears sprang to his eyes.
"Cas," the voice repeated, coming closer.
He needed this voice to understand that he was there. He was there. His lips parted slowly, painfully. "I'm here."
The tears fell.
Set in early season 9 when Malachi held Castiel hostage with a plot divergence.

Summary
Silco is having an adverse reaction to…something. If he knew exactly what—shimmer, smog, toxic river water—perhaps he would be able to fix it. As it is, he’s deteriorating rapidly. He can’t keep food or water down and battles exhaustion as he goes about his work. There’s too much at stake and no time to rest. Inevitably, he loses consciousness. He has a hard time regaining it.
Jinx is paranoid. She doesn’t trust anyone to come near Silco while he’s this vulnerable. Terrified of losing him, but unwilling to seek help, she resolves to nurse him back to health on her own. It would probably be a whole lot easier if not for the fact that she has no medical background whatsoever and historically is much more adept at accidentally blowing people to bits than deliberately piecing them back together.
But, she reasons, if there was ever a time to try something new, it’s now.
