Not entirely impossible, but the option is still grim and terrifying. Azar is a known criminal in not one but all six of the cardinal sins, and having a man like that at the helm of the government is a terrifying reality for the future of Sumeru.

Asahi laughed. Having him home felt sweet. He pulled out the silk shirt with delicate fingers, lifting it up to reveal the smooth material. The shirt fit Yuu perfectly, accentuating the blonde streak in his hair and his broad shoulders, and the buttons were done up just under his chest. The pants were tailored just long enough for Yuu’s tiny stature, and it managed to make Yuu look just that little bit taller. He thinks the love of his life could not look any better in colours so bright, his boyfriend was used to the spotlight like this, relishing in the new clothes and the attention Asahi gave to him. He stood like a model, head lifted high, hands on his hips.

Koushi pulls his earphones out of his ear, looking up at Daichi with the softest of honey eyes. He hasn’t stopped listening to the song he’s chosen to cover for their debut teasers that would premiere in the next three months, he’s not even sure if he can hit the notes. Years ago if one had asked if he’d come this far to achieve a silly little dream, fueled by his love for music, Koushi would have laughed it off. It was plain silly.

“It’s perfect.” Koushi quickly cuts him off, not waiting for a second in which Daichi could have completed his sentence, a second for consideration, a second to evaluate, to hesitate and take back his words. “I just think it’ll be perfect for us.”

Tooru grabs his wrist, stopping him from leaving. “I’m just worried about you, Koushi.” To hear Tooru be this serious, this deep-voiced, the tremble in it barely solid enough to classify this as a moment of weakness, “I know what you’ve been through. Hajime watched you lose yourself for almost ten years. I don’t want you to be hurt.”
“It’s a little too late for that by like...a whole decade, but I appreciate that.” Koushi pushes his hand off his wrist, takes the flowers back into his arms. “Tell Hajime I won’t be at tomorrow’s dinner.” He smiles just a bit - it stings, knowing he keeps locking himself away. But for so many years, Hajime and Tooru both knew the worst season had always been autumn, a moment in time when Koushi and his family began to lock themselves away, falling apart again as if they hadn’t spent most of spring and summer rebuilding themselves.

Then it hit him there - Koushi has always been in the middle of him and Asahi. Even now as they stand side by side with the seniors, the sequence is as Daichi remembers it to be.
It’s funny that the thought just came to his mind. It had always been that way, at least from what Daichi can remember - Koushi has always been in the middle between Daichi and Asahi in club photos, and now it just seemed to make sense.
