Summary
Steve and Eddie survive a year in the Upside Down. They survive rehab amongst their doting friends, and the demands of the US Government. What they do not survive is, funnily enough, each other.
In 1989, Steve breaks up with Eddie and tries to return to his past self. It works, as long as he ignores the fact that it's not the tails or the blindness or the sharp teeth he so hates that make this remarkably difficult.
In 1989, Eddie tries to run from the person he used to be. He's a bit quicker than Steve to figure out that it's not his broken body that slows him down, and no fast car he can buy will be able to outrun his own paranoia.
They next meet again in 1993. This is what happens in the inbetween.

Summary
Three shots ring out.
Steve hears them before he feels them; a warm, wet pain burning in his torso, intolerably excruciating.
There’s a bundle of squawks and screams, outbursts of panic and anger, and it’s only when Hopper falls forwards to take Steve up into a slightly rough, protective hold, does he realize that two of those shots have lodged themselves in his own flesh and bone. (Realizes that he’d moved, instinctively, to shield El, despite never having spoken to her, who’d the gun had been so precisely pointed at, aimed for.)
Steve Harrington watches his own blood pool and trickle over a series of hands pressed against him, small and large, soft and rugged, and for a moment, wants to stay like this. He can’t.

Summary
“Rules. Like, there’ll be no eating in my car. You’re not driving my car. No heavy metal,” Steve keeps listing, “you’re not picking up women and fucking them in m-”
“I'll try to control myself,” Eddie interrupts with a quip, a smirk. Fucking girls in Steve’s car, or anywhere else for that matter, isn’t going to be an issue, unless something pretty fundamental shifts in him.
Steve continues, completely ignoring Eddie, “You’ll wipe your feet. You’re not dragging dirt all over my car. No hitchhikers. No cutesy road games. No smoking in the car. I’m not paying for all the gas.”
“Ass, gas or grass, got it,” Eddie says, like he's taking this very seriously. He is not taking this seriously.
Or: Road trip!

Summary
Eddie Munson dies. Eddie dies, and no CPR, no medical intervention, nothing Steve can do will bring him back. But Steve hears a voice across the Upside Down asking him if he wants to change things.
He'd be a fool not to say yes.
Dozens, hundreds of days later and he still doesn't regret his decision. Steve is going to bring all of his friends out of this alive if it kills him.
He’d never even considered what came after.
AKA the timeloop fic where Steve wakes up the morning Dustin and Max burst into Family Video looking for Eddie. Again. And again; and a hundred more times after that.

Summary
“But they have parents. I'm just the babysitter. I don’t- I shouldn't…”
“Look, it's not fair. I know it's not. You're too damn young for this. In a perfect world, it would be their parents here. But we didn't get that. They didn't get that. You didn't get that. I know why Joyce handed over those car keys. I know what she saw. Cuz I saw it, too. A parent who’d just been told their kids were in danger. Nothing was going to stop you from going to them. Reason be damned.”
“I don't know what I'm doing.” Steve confessed
“Let you in on a secret. No parent does.” Hopper offered, a small smile turning the corner of his mouth upward.
“What if I mess up?”
“You will.”
“That's not comforting, Hop.”
