Lottie doesn’t recognize the person standing in front of her. She’s a woman, a pretty woman, with dark brown hair that falls nearly to her hips, and Lottie knows she’s staring but she kind of can’t help it, because God, this is not what she was expecting. She thinks for a second Travis has a girlfriend he didn’t tell her about, but when she meets the woman’s eyes, they’re too familiar for that to be the case. “Travis?” she asks, only a hint of uncertainty present in her voice.
He — she — winces. “It’s — um, it’s Maria now.”
Lottie nods. “Do you mind if I come in?”
