D'var Tia travels back in time to find the answer to the Final Days. What he doesn't expect to find is a past haunted by his own ghosts.
“For someone who managed to slip into a controlled facility alongside an official of the Convocation under false pretences, you are a terrible liar.” Hades has bent down, kneeling, meeting D’var’s eyes, his gaze searching for any injury the miqo’te is hiding, and D’var wants to be nearly anywhere but here. His merger control of his own aether flares as he feels that burningly familiar touch of Hades’s own, and he tries to push back against it. “Stop that, and let me help you.”
The words knock the breath from him in a sob that he barely catches behind his teeth even as the Ancient’s aether pushes into him, through him, like a wave. He remembers that feeling, knows it, and shudders with how much he has missed it, breath caught between his ribs even as his heart tries to shatter them from inside.Series

He now finds himself the leader of a band of other unfortunate illithid worm infected individuals, and beset by urges for things he does not understand. Navigating the demands others place on him, his own ravaged mind, and a growing relationship with a vampire spawn, all amid trying to find a cure for the infection they all share might be what breaks him. Or it may be what saves him. Only time will tell.

"She stepped forward again, surprising herself with the conviction in her voice. 'I followed the enquiry, you were cleared of all negligence. The panel unanimously concluded the fault was with the Admiralty for rushing preparations. The Enterprise cast off half finished and half crewed. From what I read, you logged protests at being ordered to cast off early ahead of time. You did nothing wrong. The enquiry was a clear stitch-up.'
The advantages that seemed to be afforded to Harriman still irritated her. But on knowing him well from the Academy, Commander Finn couldn’t help but believe his idealism and commitment to the service were genuine. Not just a vehicle to launch a later political career, as so many she knew, who hadn’t met him, had decided. It bothered her more than she expected to see him wounded this way."I'm not a writer and this was written as a pet project purely for my own amusement. ISO: Carer to look after my father for 8 weeks this summer.
Dad is 71, early stage Parkinson’s disease, broke his hip 6 weeks ago. No signs of cognitive decline; mostly needs help with household tasks (cooking, light cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping), getting dressed, showering, changing cat litter/general cat care, getting to and from appointments.
Please know what you are getting into; Dad is physically more or less in good health but awful at accepting his limitations, unnecessarily mean, generally uncooperative, and largely nocturnal. Imagine yourself caring for a feral raccoon that is convinced it’s going to write another book, then subtract everything that is cute about raccoons.
$20/hour, roughly 4 hours a day. Must be able to pass a background check and lift 50 lbs. Patience of a saint not required but preferred.- Language:

The Falls of the Reichenbach are unsurvivable. Sherlock Holmes survives them- at a cost.
