“You don't have to do this,” Billie says. Kevin raises his eyebrows, and tightens his grip around Billie’s wrist.
It does burn. Billie suppresses a hiss and looks away. The cuts are worse than he thought, and there's blood trickling down his arms. It makes him nauseous. The taste and the smell of the blood and, even after everything, Kevin treating him with a tenderness Billie does not deserve.

They need to get back without disrupting the timeline too much, not an easy task when one of them is one of the most advanced pieces of technology from their time period. Oh, and there's Klingons nearby.
