Summary
Ever since Louis died, Owen’s nightmares have stayed consistent: a white-haired man with Louis’s face tied to a pyre and burnt alive, flames licking up the peeling wood of a building; screams, blood, claws, hell opening under him, hell opening within him. He’s memorised the settings he sees in these phantasmagoria: cobweb-filled forests, leviathan bodies of water, a walled town he fears atavistically, inexplicably.
His research of the place in his mind has matched with the description of the ancient, mythical town of Oakhurst. The one filled with vampires, if the myths are true.
Whoever’s given him this book can’t have seen what he dreamed of, can they? He opens it and coughs, flapping the dust out of his face.
At fifteen, Owen meets Louis, who changes his life.
At thirty-four, Owen lives a magically mundane life with Legundo, until a book shows up on his doorstep.

Their eyes run down Kaguya’s tattered dress, her wrinkled cape, and the crumbs of dirt on her feet and under her nails. What can she say? It was a really narrow escape that time. Those Moon Kingdom stalkers are getting scarily good.
So good, in fact, that she only has three days here before the Moon Kingdom delegates catch up, if she calculates right. What a pity.
Princess Kaguya of the Moon Kingdom meets Princess Iroha of Tsukuyomi three times. Once is all it takes to fall in love.

It hits him all at once when Akutagawa is just sitting by the window reading. On the battlefield, blood rolled down Akutagawa’s pale cheeks, and his body became a knife: his lithe limbs wrapped in that impenetrable dark, each tapered to a point, and his black helmet, sharp as the prongs of the moon, covered his calm, steady eyes, in them the wax and wane of the inky night tide.
Now he is armourless, flipping the pages of his book. His spindly fingers clasp the cover. He does not move aside from this. It hits Atsushi that they are alive. He slumps down next to Akutagawa and rests his head on his shoulder. Akutagawa only glances down at him and continues reading.
Atsushi wouldn’t say they live a loud life.
They’ve come a long, long way.

Flashes of a god, teetering on the brink of dark insanity, gulping blood into its maw, and the people, desperate to satiate it—the violence and death sanctioned and glorified for centuries in murals, poems, songs.

The urge to tease her grows inside Iroha, a strange feeling for her who stays on the sidelines, never getting too close to people even with Mami and Roka. It isn’t appropriate, but when Kaguya who loves nothing more than to make a fuss and run around is so shy, so fragile, she wants to play with her… But Iroha doesn’t do this. Instead she smiles as nicely as she can, hoping it’s not weird and tells her what parents tell their kids. (Kaguya isn’t her child, but it’s close enough. Probably.)
“When you meet someone you love very much, you’ll want to kiss them.”
That should be enough for the message to get across–
“Then can I kiss you?”
Or: 5 times Iroha and Kaguya kissed + 1 time Yachiyo remembered her first kiss.
