Realizing he’s been staring, Gambit removes the cigarette from his mouth where it’s been dangling dangerously with his open-mouthed gaping and clears his throat. “Chѐre… for me?” he says, laying on the charm, hoping it’ll cover up how much just the sight of her has affected him.
“You wish,” Rogue scoffs before stepping down and approaching him. “A lady has to look her best when she goes out on the town, Remy.” She’s close enough he can see her earrings now, too, a gold hoop in each ear, glinting gently. “After all, there might be some real gentlemen at that restaurant,” she teases.
Rogue and Gambit finally get that date.

Summary
Three years ago, Carol Danvers was murdered by a supposedly unknown mutant. Except Mystique knows that the murderer is her daughter Rogue, and she threatens to reveal Rogue’s secret if she refuses to return home to care for a dying Destiny. But Rogue has spent three years attempting to control strong powers and come to terms with some painful truths, and she knows that any display of her powers will cause suspicions to rise, even if Mystique keeps her secret. Still, with no choice but to return, she poses as a non-mutant caretaker named Anna Marie, hoping that no one will realize that the murderer of Carol Danvers is in their midst.
Years after the Morlock Massacre, Gambit is a valuable member of the X-Men. His powers and skills courtesy of the Thieves Guild prove to be an asset for the team, and he starts to believe that he has found a way to atone for past sins. But the X-Men have no idea about his violent past, and his place on the team is only safe if his secret remains hidden.
When the X-Men are forced to ally themselves with the Brotherhood to investigate odd alterations in local mutants, both secrets are at risk of coming to light.

It was going well. It was going great, actually. He'd gotten through security absolutely unseen, grabbed that pretty little jewel, and almost got out.
Until the night guard had decided that he needed another coffee, and Remy had thrown himself against a wall to stay out of his sight. That was fine, too. A master thief is supposed to be a master of improvisation— a guard's erratic caffeine runs were hardly a real difficulty.
