Summary
Aizawa Shouta was tired.
Crouched on the edge of the roof as he was, he observed the streets below him silently. He was coming to the end of his patrol, and if everything remained as it was, he'd be able to catch a decent nap before having to report in to the school for another round of proctoring.
Which, of course, is when he saw the kid being chased down the alley.

Being sucked through a time-traveling portal and dropped in the middle of a fantasy world with supervillains was not his idea for a good start to the new school year. Shota sneers at the teenager across from him. His defense raises like the hairs on the back of his neck as he glares steadily, ready and waiting for whatever will come from this encounter. He narrows his gaze when the teen shifts; just the thought of sharing this rooftop with Japan's most notorious villain makes his skin prickle. “Deku.”
“Y-yes!” the teenager cries out in relief, taking a small step towards Shota, “I’m Deku! I’m so g-glad you—”
“Deku,” Shota growls darkly, flicking out his capture weapon hastily to snag the villain before he can make his move. He's quick to tug it taut, leaving no room for Deku to escape. “You’re under arrest.”
“I-I’m what?! W-wait!”
tl;dr
Hero Course student Izuku comes to the realization that he is definitely not where he's supposed to be.

Summary
The Sludge Villain doesn't find Bakugo after escaping All Might, but some other random civilian. There's no series of explosions to draw All Might to the scene of the second attack. It's by pure luck that Izuku stumbles upon them. And Izuku does what he always has when he sees one person hurting another: inserts himself between the aggressor and victim. He finds this is significantly harder to do when one of the parties is a sentient slime.

His only response was another whimper, even quieter this time. The person’s breathing sounded labored.
Now truly concerned, Hizashi pulled out his phone and prepared to turn on the flashlight. Not wanting to startle whoever was curled up in the shadows, he announced his movements. “I’m pulling out a flashlight so I can get a look at you, okay? I need to see if you’re okay.”
When he aimed the light at the alcove, he paled and he swore his heart stopped for a moment.
Curled up behind a dumpster in this dirty alley was a child, pale as a ghost and bleeding from two long, angry cuts on their wrists.
