Annie doesn’t side step Mikasa this time. “Why?”
“I want to see you.”
Mikasa looks her in the eyes as she says that and Annie feels her breath hitch. She looks away, clearing her throat. “But why the theatre?”
Mikasa smiles small, reaching in to take Annie’s free hand with her own, gently pulling as she starts to walk backwards. Annie obliges, following after Mikasa. “Sing with me. Let’s pretend to be Phantom and Christine.”

Annie balks for a second, before she sucks in a breath and plasters an overly large smile on her face. It’s probably enough to fool her father, but it only has Mikasa pressing her face into the cushion to not burst out laughing. She never imagined that Annie Leonhart could be so cute. Well, she never imagined spending this much time with Annie Leonhart either. This is probably the longest conversation they’ve ever had too, and it is swiftly turning her impression of the blonde on its head. Clearly she just never knew Annie Leonhart, because there is nothing of the cold, distant, and apathetic nature she thought typical of the other girl to be found here.

She doesn’t know what exactly it is about Mikasa. Someone as passionless as her, with such empty eyes, who doesn’t even have enough pride in her skills that she’d hide it at someone else’s say so, surely someone like that doesn’t deserve her interest? Eren may be formless and lacks discipline, but in his eyes burns an uncontrollable passion. Like he’s bigger than his own body. That’s what’s attractive about him. Compared to him, Mikasa just pisses her off. She can’t place a finger on why. Mikasa just does.
