Summary
The passage of time tends to dull things in Mark’s head. He hardly remembers the summers he spent roaming the palace gardens. Time had run fast back then, in the way life does when you are young and unhindered. But Mark sees the sharp slant of his smile and knows in his gut that it’s a smile he’s seen many times before. Peaking around the hedges and through the fringe of the sun. It’s a smile he knows well, but also not at all.
Or Mark becomes the royal tutor for the youngest prince, Jisung. Over the years, he falls into a humble routine. He teaches Jisung, presses flowers for his mother, and spends his evenings in the gardens. It’s all very simple, until it’s not.

Summary
Secret agent Soobin was trained to be the best. Elite. Unbreakable.
But oh, how foolish of him to let a pretty, annoying smile slip past his guard.
He should’ve known better. Should’ve stayed sharp. Should’ve never let his heart speak louder than instinct.
Truly, Soobin is a fool.

Summary
Donghyuck can’t stand his neighbour, Mark Lee, who lives in apartment 403. Sure, the guy has a breathtaking smile and unfairly perfect hair, but that’s not enough to make up for the constant bickering. Whether it’s over noise complaints or stolen laundry machine time, they argue every second of the day.
After a year of nonstop squabbling, the building manager finally has enough and forces them onto shared cleaning duty. Naturally, another fight breaks out. But this time, the tension doesn’t burn out, it ignites into something else entirely.

Summary
Not ten minutes had passed, though, when a white minivan came into view. It had some stickers placed haphazardly all over it, colorful things from festivals and energy drink brand logos, like someone had unleashed a preschooler and told them to do their worst. Hyuck caught himself half-expecting it would pass him, too, just like all the other cars had, but this one rolled to a careful stop on the roadside, giving him enough time to step back. He watched, a little surprised, as the window on the passenger’s side rolled down and a young guy leaned over the gearbox.
“Hey, need a ride?”
Mark picked up a hitchhiker on his way back home. Or at least so he thought.

Summary
"Mark only touched him in San Francisco now, when he felt like it. When he was bored of other people or when he wanted someone who knew how to kiss him the way he liked and make him laugh when the sex was over and they rolled over and went back to being best friends. Sometimes, Mark had someone else, but Donghyuck came anyway because he liked it too much when Mark asked for him."
Mark and Donghyuck figure out their messy, sometimes totally fucked situationship over eighteen months in San Francisco. Mark thinks about the straight and narrow but can't remember how to stay on the supposedly righteous path. Donghyuck tries to live in a new city and remember all the reasons that he shouldn't give his heart to Mark, looking to new friends for lessons in how to grow up and move on.

Summary
Sometimes, all love needs is a second chance. Or two. Or a few more, just in case.
Desperation was a bad advisor. Frustration was an even worse one. And yet, Mark was desperate and frustrated when he picked up a bad habit from college again, because it couldn’t do his doomed relationship much more harm. Everything was already falling apart, anyway.
He knew it wouldn’t fix any of his problems. But he never would have guessed it would become a stepping stone for turning his life around.

Summary
“But all of your stuff is good,” Donghyuck adds. “On paper, all of it hits the marks it should.”
“Why do I feel like there’s a ‘but’ coming?” Mark asks, on edge from the criticism he knows is coming.
“But…” Donghyuck taunts. Mark punches him in the shoulder, which earns him a laugh. “Intro, verse, chorus, bridge. None of that really matters if it doesn’t have any heart. Where’s the soul? These are great, but who are you writing them for?”
That’s the thing. Mark has no idea anymore.

Summary
A sigh, quiet rustling in the metallic speakers of the device.
“You know it’s too early. We haven’t unlocked a large enough range of your emotions. You won’t be able to bear it if your first approach with sorrow and guilt happens with taking the life of someone you care about.”
Mark grimaced despite himself before speaking, swallowing down to ease the tightness of his throat.
“It doesn’t matter.” he scoffed. “Every emotion I’m unlocking is just another string holding me back even more from being able to kill him.”
Or, Mark has betrayed the Heart, and no one but his former partner is sent after him to kill him.

Summary
The envelope screams RESIGNATION LETTER in bold print, but it’s got to be a joke, Mark’s sure. There’s only one person directly reporting to him despite being the Vice-President of Client Solutions, and that is his trusty long-time Secretary Lee Donghyuck. Anyone working in client solutions who decides to resign would have to address their letters to their superiors, who would need Mark’s approval, which would never even land on his desk because Secretary Lee takes care of those things for him. It would be quite impossible for anything to reach Mark without it going through Donghyuck.
And it’s Secretary Lee, for God’s sake. Donghyuck would never quit on Mark Lee. Not in a million years. Not in this lifetime, unfortunately.

Summary
Mark rolled his eyes, slipping his wedding ring off his finger and tossing it onto the coffee table carelessly as he pushed Donghyuck further into the couch, lifting the younger’s leg so that he could situate himself between his thighs.
Donghyuck would’ve liked to have said he’d had half a mind to have even considered saying no, that he’d had to restrain himself not to throw the wad of cash back at Mark’s chest and storm out of the stupid 5 star hotel room that probably cost more than he made in a month working the streets.
But of course, he couldn’t say that; he complied willingly, moaning prettily into Mark’s open mouth as if his brain were on auto-pilot to perform exactly the way Mark had trained him to a mere five or so years ago.
He didn’t care that Mark had a wife, he didn’t care that Mark didn’t deserve to so much as look at him after what he’d done all those years ago; to put it simply, he just didn’t fucking care.
