Steve seems to know what’s happening, tensing up impossibly more as Eddie slowly pulled the collar down, getting a better view at the mark. “Steve. what is that?” he knew it was a rhetorical question, they both did. they both knew what is was. but Eddie was holding on to any sliver of hope he could that it wasn’t what he thought. one look at Steve’s face was all the answer he needed though, the boy looking away ashamed and unable to meet Eddies eyes. he pulled his hand away, bringing it to his chest like he’d been burned. “you didn’t..” the words were breathy, full of unbelief.
