So, fucking whatever, Nonagesimus, you’d spat me out like a piece of oss that got mixed into your meal and I wasn’t your cavalier anymore - I wasn’t even Ninth - but at least now I was someone’s daughter.

Eponine just wasn’t used to this - pretty girls like Cosette existed as faraway concepts. Pretty girls like Cosette played on her teams and waved politely to her in the hallways. They maybe tagged her in group team photos and occasionally asked her to pass during practice, but they didn’t walk next to her before a game or ride in Grantaire’s van without a passive-aggressive comment about the interior (or exterior, or everything else about that damn thing.)
Cosette, apparently, had not heard of those guidelines for girls like her.
(College Soccer Team AU - not a Bend It Like Beckham AU, and also not about Bahorel. Apologies in advance.)

Summary
Making his way out the door of his building, Enjolras loitered at the corner between his door and Grantaire's apartment and admired the quiet evening. He had always thought campus at night was beautiful - the windows of the dorm building made a yellow and black mosaic that was unique to the night, and the amber lights humming above his head bathed everything in a haze of honey and comfort.
He heard a voice behind him. “Trip down from Olympus alright?”
Enjolras turned. The figure in front of him was distinct despite the thousands dressed in the same unofficial university uniform - hands shoved into a dark sweatshirt, unruly hair in a wild streetlight-gilded halo, dark circles under heavy eyes.
Grantaire was looking at him, eyes crinkling with the start of a smile, lopsided and casual and warm.
“Lovely to see you at this hour, Apollo.” -

Summary
Grantaire wished they were still wearing their hockey gear so he could knock Bossuet into the boards without damage. Bodily damage made Cosette upset, and upsetting Cosette was against the law.
Cosette laughed. “Don’t be mean, Bossuet, Grantaire’s just repressed. He’ll get there eventually.”
Okay, so never mind, Cosette was a traitor and he had no sympathy for her.
Grantaire muttered under his breath, and Cosette rolled her eyes as they skated around the bend.
“Oh, don’t be like that. It’s cute! You should talk to him, he might surprise you.”
Bossuet nodded importantly. “And if he rejects you and verbally assaults you to the point of eternal regret, I’ll be there with ice cream and Mamma Mia. You may not have a boyfriend, but we’ll always have the synth from Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.”

“My parents won’t hear if I go out the window.”
“You’re gonna climb out the window, onto the roof, then down to the street?”
Enjolras swallowed. “Uh. Yeah.”
Grantaire laughed, and Enjolras’ heart did a funny little thing that he was gonna put in a box to analyze later with Courfeyrac’s help. Enjolras was a lightweight when it came to beautiful boys being stupid with him at one in the morning

Summary
Enjolras shut the rooftop door with another quiet click, cutting off the yellow light and once again bathing them both in the soft purple of dusk.
Grantaire watched Enjolras walk over, heard the crunch crunch crunch of his feet on the rooftop gravel. Saw him look out over the Paris skyline - part of Grantaire wanted to bring it up and ask Enjolras what he thought of when he saw the world spread out in front of them - if he felt the same ache of home and thank you when he saw the city- he didn’t know what he’d do if Enjolras didn’t feel that too.
He didn’t know what he’d do if he did.
