Summary
“No,” Vader says, “I am your father.”
Every bit of the pain, the terror, and the rage that have been flooding Luke’s senses is completely drowned out by utter confusion. What, he thinks, the fuck.
Then, a sinking feeling completely overtakes him. The Force is telling him the truth of Vader’s words— he can feel them resonating, falling along invisible threads and weaving their way through his being— but there’s something not quite right about them. Vader is his father, at least technically, but there’s something he’s missing, something that he—
Oh shit, Luke thinks, Vader is my dad’s ex-husband.

Summary
Beau shudders and holds Caleb's hand, which he squeezes back tentatively. She can feel how it shakes in her grip. She does her best to steady him, despite the fact that she wants to shake apart herself and completely fall to pieces.
“I am going to hazard a guess here,” Caleb says softly, “that we may have been drugged.”

Tonight was supposed to be a fun night off. Unfortunately for Beau and Caleb, the universe has other plans.

Summary
“This is the Temporal Chalice,” the girl says, placing the chalice on the table. “If you claim it, you can fix what you did.”
Caleb’s heart stops.
“What?” His voice is still a whisper. “With that…I can change…”
“You can change one moment of your choosing. You can rewrite time and none of that will ever have happened. You can save your parents’ lives and save yourself all the pain it caused,” the girl says. “What will you choose?”
Caleb gets the chance to fix everything he did. After all, the Mighty Nein are better off without him, right?

Summary
Nott was crouched at Caleb’s head, patting his cheek carefully so as not to catch him with her nails. He was in a limp heap, bloodied and far too still for Beau’s liking. She was numb for a moment, breath stuck, vision spinning, tunneling inward towards her human compatriot, and then her breath left her all at once in a piercing cry of, “CALEB!”

Summary
“He isn’t dead, is he?” Veth asked quickly. “Is he?”
Jester rolled Caleb onto his back and put her ear to his chest. She listened for a moment, then shook her head. “No, no, he’s breathing. I think…I think he might be sleeping.”
Beau, who had been growing tenser and tenser as the conversation went on, relaxed slightly. “Is that all, then?” he asked. “Just…just sleeping?”
Fjord snapped his fingers. “That must’ve been a Sleep spell,” he said. “Sand is a component, if I remember right. Just slap him, he’ll wake up.”
Jester gave Caleb a flick on the forehead. He did not stir.
(or: a Dream spell gone awry sends the Mighty Nein to a place they never thought they'd go, to face memories long since buried...)

Summary
When Caleb gets very sick, the rest of the Nein take care of him. The fever draws some of Caleb's issues to the front, but if Beau can figure out how to use punching for medicinal purposes, she can figure out how to talk about feelings. Maybe. Caleb isn't used to being cared about, but sometimes if it's masked enough, he can navigate it anyway.

It's just a few little lacerations to his palm. He can manage that. There's nothing to be troubled with. The others don't need to know. It'll end soon, and Caleb will forget all about it.

Caleb is hit with a spell that causes the affected individual an overwhelming urge to inflict pain, and the only individuals around are his family and himself.

Summary
"They weren’t allowed to stay together for long, and the memory of all three of them standing in a line behind the auction block would haunt Fjord for however long he had left to live."
Or - Fjord, Yasha, and Jester are all sold to different owners before the others can find them. Fjord finds himself alone, far closer to the front lines of the war effort than he ever planned to come. He tries to survive, tries to escape, and tries not to wonder if anyone's going to be coming to his rescue at all.
The Mighty Nein was just starting to feel like home. Given the course of his life so far, maybe that meant he should have always expected it to come to a quick and merciless end.

Summary
Caleb’s running a fever by the time the rest of the Mighty Nein find him.
He was expecting that much – he’s done this before, after all, knows that it’s a bad idea and will not go well in the long run. However, bleeding out in the middle of a forest is also not a good idea, and will also not go well in the long run. The difference is that bleeding out in the middle of a forest will go exceptionally poorly in the short run, so it’s a lesser-of-two evils sort of thing. He’s well-versed in Faustian bargains, made both unwittingly and otherwise. It’s fine.
(In which Caleb gets separated from the rest of the group, and then injured, and then some rather ill-advised DIY field medicine involving fire. The rest of the Mighty Nein are left to pick up the pieces when they find him.)

Summary
Caleb was a sentimental idiot to stay with the Nein as long as he has, and it's time for him to go—it's the only way to keep them (and himself) safe from those forever chasing him. He needs to vanish into being nothing once more.

Summary
Lucien laughs again, and then bends, his fingers replacing his sword at Caleb's throat, "You make pretty sounds when you're hurt," he tells Caleb, like a compliment, like Caleb should be happy, "I will admit, I'll miss your little kitty-cats."
And he wraps one firm, strong hand around Caleb's throat, and hefts him into the air, his grip so tight that Caleb can't even scream anymore. He's bruising. "They'll miss them more, though," Lucien whispers in his ear, and then he opens his mouth, and Caleb can see something black and brackish, like a gas, like a poison, like cursed blood, and then Lucien is pulling Caleb towards him like a ragdoll and then Caleb can feel nothing but pain, a maelstrom of pain, and blood-hot fingers on his jaw.
