(Rewrite of 'The Ring to His Heart')
Everyone is born with a ring-like mark on their left ring finger, and its color changes depending on the emotions of their predetermined soulmate.
Red for anger, Yellow for happiness, Green for envy(or jealousy), Blue for sadness, Dark red for fear, White for shock, Dark Blue for pain, Dark Gray for loneliness, Light Gray is considered to be for neutrality, or the lack of any prevalent emotions.
When someone meets their soulmate, their ring-like mark turns a light pink, but if their soulmate is to die, the mark turns black before vanishing completely.Series

Almost everyone is born with a ring on their finger, and the color changes depending on the emotion of their soulmate; Red is anger, yellow is happy, green is envy, blue is sadness, dark red is fear, white is shock, and dark blue is pain. Gray could be considered to be 'neutral' or no prevalent emotions.
When you meet your soulmate the ring turns pink, but, when they die, the ring turns black and falls off of the wearers finger, becoming dust. I added some more emotions and their colors, just to cover things that I think will happen in this fic before I've even begun to write it.
I also added some things in this fic about Jack's character, I don't know whether they're true or not, so, bare with me about that, and the trigger warning is in the additional tags

Summary
Two years after the android revolution, Markus and the Jericho crew finally get android marriages legalised in America, holding them at equal legitimacy to human marriages. Deviants celebrate as they all watch Markus and Simon marry on the news, and have the freedom to make such a commitment with their lovers, human or android alike.
6 months later, Gavin and Nines - work partners for two years, friends for one - are assigned a case where they have to go undercover as a married couple for a month in order to gain the attention of - and eventually infiltrate - a thirium-trafficking operation that preys on androids who dare associate themselves with humans, especially romantically. While Gavin isn’t fond of using Nines as bait, he basically gets a paid month-long vacation to goof off with his friend, and Nines volunteered, so he’s not complaining.
As things are going well; really, really well, Gavin starts to realise they look so good together. And ignoring Connor's increasing taunts becomes impossible; the longer they live together, presenting to neighbours as a married couple hopelessly in love, the harder it becomes for Gavin to think of anything or anyone but Nines.
