Summary
The Vast and the Dark have been together for longer than time can be quantified, since the very first metaphysical breath taken by the newly formed universe. They were some of the first to exist, after all, as the natural phenomena that birthed the concepts that make them up were present and intertwined long before there was anything with a mind complex enough to fear them, and those natural phenomena made up the majority of existence for innumerable eons.
The Vast and the Dark are each other, in many ways—and if humanity were capable of comprehending what they are to each other, perhaps we would say that the Vast and the Dark are in love. At least, as much as two ageless, semi-sentient eldritch entities fuelled by fear can be in love.
Their worldly avatars, on the other hand, are... well, they're working on it.

Now her eyebrows are starting to look judgy. Those are definitely judgmental eyebrows.
"Not that there's anything wrong with that!" Shit. That sounded even worse. Her eyebrows are still doing the thing. Oliver feels sweaty. This is what he gets for trying to do something borderline altruistic. Why couldn't he just be evil. Evil people don't blush when talking to beautiful women, he's pretty sure.
