Cordelia has never liked alphas much, despite being an omega. She always shrank away, intimidated by them. Her duty as a princess and an omega had always been to one day marry an alpha, but being forced into marriage by a conquering alpha as she mourns her father's and brothers' deaths at the hand of those conquerers is a living nightmare for her.
So far, the only silver lining of this whole awful thing is Gustadolph's top general, a woman named Avlora-- who despite being both a woman and a beta, had risen to the top of Aesfrost's military, and is the only person to have shown her any kindness since Glenbrook's annexation.

Shalom laughed, and her eyes narrowed with delight as she lifted the object she held in her hand. A simple collar, dark and thin. Sized not for a canine, but instead for a human.
“Don’t you like it?”
“Whether I like it or not–”
“Matters to me,” Shalom corrected.

If Sephiroth demands power, the power to protect and hurt and destroy and create--things Cloud wants--then doesn’t it make sense that Tifa wants that same softness?
