Summary
For the longest time sex to Ingrid had been a distant and blurry idea--Something that happened in a marriage, something that was a duty and a chore.
Or at least- Sex used to be that way in her mind. It had been hard to picture herself simply kissing a man--but with women, with Dorothea, thoughts of touching, kissing, holding, had all come much too easily.
She had denied her attraction to women for years. It feels foolish now, to deny something so real, and so obvious--
And now-Well the attraction she holds for Dorothea is something that Ingrid allows herself to feel.

Summary
She doesn’t hate him. Not anymore-they had fought too closely together during the war. Ferdinand had made her cookies, once, in his own attempt to solve a riddle that Dorothea had made unsolvable.
He asked her to dance last night, and Dorothea, full of giddiness and relief from a war finally won, had said yes.
(It wasn’t the first time she had danced with him. She did once, during their academy days, and the way he had looked at her last night was not so different from when she was a girl).
She doesn’t know why, but she continued saying yes every time he asked her to dance last night.
And when she was too drunk to make any reasonable decisions she had kissed him.

Dorothea and Ferdinand, drunk and giddy from a war finally won sleep together during a night of celebration.
Dorothea doesn't expect (or plan) on ending up pregnant, but when Ferdinand proposes, desperate to provide a home and family to their child, Dorothea can hardly say no.
(Or: Dorothea misinterprets Ferdinand's feelings for her every step of the way).
(She eventually gets it right).

Summary
Dorothea now knew there was a limit on how far her voice could take her.
Marriage however--Marriage could change her life, especially if she happened to find the right person.
If she played her cards right Dorothea would never be that poor little orphan girl, living on the streets of Embarr, ever again.

Dorothea enters the Academy at Garreg Mach Monastery with a plan-She is going to secure a marriage-a good one, so she can be in comfort for the rest of her days.
She doesn't plan on falling in love with Ingrid Galatea-a girl who definitely doesn't love her back, and who needs to enter a marriage of her own to secure her family's future.
She doesn't expect to befriend Hilda Valentine Goneril-the spoiled but sweet daughter of a noble lord.
She certainly doesn't expect to join a war.
If her life was a opera-it would probably be a tragedy.
But perhaps-Perhaps it doesn't have to be.

Summary
So: Lorenz’s home. Claude has seen the courtyard and the stables and the countless horses. He has noticed the respectful deference of the soldiers toward Lorenz, the fond politeness of the servants. The elderly woman who must be the housekeeper fusses when she realizes Lorenz was injured recently. After hours on a horse, there is no way for him to deny that he is hurting, which leads to the housekeeper to send for the keep’s physician.
This is how Claude finds himself in Lorenz’s room.
