October is usually a busy month for his uncle, but despite him being out working a case right now, Shuichi still finds himself standing in front of the ornate full-length mirror his aunt keeps in the master bedroom in a makeshift detective costume that’s mostly tweed. She insists he looks very handsome, but Shuichi is not so sure. At least it comes with a deerstalker hat he can hide under, silly as it looks.
Shuichi’s uncle is out doing real detective work this year, but Shuichi still dressed up, because this year he has friends he’s going trick-or-treating with.

Nonetheless, this is too small of a task to be trembling over, so Wolfgang takes a deep breath and reminds himself that anything is possible through practice and willpower. With that as his mantra, he removes the mould from the fridge. He’s two steps away from it, the door swung shut, when he hears someone else enter the kitchen. Ordinarily, this wouldn’t be a problem, but Wolfgang is facing two horrific scenarios right now.
One: It’s Ms. Madison, and his life is over.
Two: It’s not Ms. Madison, but someone worse, who will see his incompetence and laugh at him.The latter isn’t actually so much of a problem—anyone in any position as highly respected as Wolfgang’s would be the subject of a fair bit of scrutiny, so suffice to say that he is used to it—but the sound and terror of it possibly being Ms. Madison combined are enough to send the mould flying out of Wolfgang’s hands. And to the floor, where it flips on its side and sends half-hardened chocolate oozing across the kitchen tiles, and also Wolfgang’s shoes.
