"He began his descent into the valley, heading towards the hill. If she was anywhere in Lothlórien, she would be here, in its heart, and he would find her. He had made a vow. And if there was anything his family was good for, it was keeping their vows."
Or, Maglor meets Arwen, almost falls to his death, gardens, learns how to get help and offer it, and starts healing. Sort of in that order.- Language:

Summary
"Maedhros sought destruction body and spirit, and found both. When Mandos summoned him, he refused, and first of them all he has been taken by the void that they swore themselves to. He is not in the world, and will not come again. Deeper darknesses are there than that which Morgoth made below Thangorodrim!” Fingon paused and looked at Finrod. “Should I not then have killed him as he asked me?”
“No!” said Finrod, but Turgon said nothing.
Sam grew even more upset. “Now that’s not right,” he said, “that can’t be right! Just or not – and I don’t know that it is, begging your pardon, sir – still, no story should end that way!”

Summary
One year later Dankovsky returns to Town-on-Gorkhon, paperthin and worn. Pushing aside his confused tangle of feelings for his old colleague, Artemy resolves to diagnose the nature of Dankovsky's malaise--and the cause of his return.
Only in the old fishing hut outside of town is it safe, quiet enough to talk, and free from the memories that plague them both. But they can't escape the threads in their blood. As visions rise to the surface and pull at the tides of their veins, a choice must be made. The wound cannot be left to fester at any cost.

Summary
Artemy Burakh has spent the last six days struggling to save his town from a virulent outbreak, largely alone. Now it seems he is losing his battle against the disease - a cure is possible in theory, but its components are a myth, and he is running out of time to find them. A new force has arrived in the town, one with the power to bring it a quicker, more ruthless death than even the Sand Pest. An inquisitor, charged by the powers that be with solving impossible problems by pitiless means. A man known to some as the white snake of the Capital...

Summary
A short rap sounds on his door and Daniil is already halfway across the room to answer, taking a moment along the way to fix his face into an appropriately irritated mien that communicates how very busy he is.
When Daniil opens it, his carefully crafted expression falls.
“Burakh?” The name emerges as a question, but the man standing before him is undoubtedly the surgeon himself, bloodied and panting, clutching at the hilt of a knife protruding from the left side of his torso. Dark crimson weeps from the wound all the way down to his hip.
Burakh’s face twists into a mixture of a grimace and a smirk. “Does your offer of a bed from this afternoon still stand, erdem?” he says, voice weak.
In which the Bachelor and Haruspex perform the Danse Macabre.

Summary
Artemy Burakh,
I hope this letter finds you well; or finds you at all, for that matter. Considering the circumstances of our last meeting, I did not have time to become familiar with the quality of your town’s postal system. Hopefully, it is looking better there these days.
I’m writing to you on a matter that I fear nobody else can assist me with. I have recently come down with a strange affliction, and have run out of possible explanations. Be assured, it is not the return of the Pest nor any of its derivatives, however, I fear you may regardless be the only one with insight into my present condition.
I am aware we have not always gotten along in the past, and I am to blame for a large sum of that animosity, so I pray now that you find it in your heart to offer me, at the least, your counsel. The train that I will take will arrive on the fifteenth of February. Should you decide to accept my plea, I would ask you kindly to meet me then.
Until then, Haruspex.
With Respect,
Daniil Dankovsky, Bachelor of Medicine.

Summary
“You keep doing this,” he says, accusing.
Artemy doesn’t look away, eyes chasing the faintest movement of Daniil’s, as though wanting to pin him in place like a beetle. “Doing what.”
Daniil’s gloved hand moves as if on its own accord, and traces a line up his throat, jaw, the side of his face and ear. To map him out, commit to memory. Ascertain that he’s real. That he’s here.
Daniil whispers, “Bringing me back.”
Or: Daniil learns to just live.

Summary
Whatever it was, the little voice in his head, it told him to go home.
What he’ll find home is a different story. A vast quiet, thick and swathing. A dark hush over the rooms, the kitchen, nothing but the scraping of mice and the stray cat Notkin had brought in. An absence, acute, of Isidor, still lingering in the air.
And somewhere upstairs, far and close, in a room sealed tightly shut, another man sleeping.
Or: a breaking point.

Summary
With practiced ease Artemy cuts the ventricles free and lifts the heart from its cage. Still warm, he holds the prize out and for a moment he can pretend the pounding in his chest is coming from the organ he gingerly handles.
Slowly, Dankovsky reaches out to take it, eyes confused, evidently feeling the tension in the air. When the heart is held safely in his hands, Artemy squeezes his own eyes shut and for one moment lets himself wish.
He lurches forward and stands back up. Then he addresses the worms behind them: “Tell everyone it is done.”
---
Artemy receives his inheritance on day one. Although some of the Kin aren’t happy with his return, it does make a few things easier – like when Daniil is caught performing an autopsy. Only, he wishes someone had told him what consequences marrying the man would have.- Language:

Summary
After he's unearthed a number of disturbing details about the Town-on-Gorkhon on his first day there, and gotten his hands unpleasantly dirty in a moment of uncharacteristic passion, Daniil Dankovsky sees an angry mob charging after who they believe to be a serial killer, and something clicks in his mind, as if the left and right hand have clutched the head for the first time...
The Bachelor and the Haruspex decide to play together properly, instead of taking turns on the stage. It's not what the devisers have planned, but if they want to bend the rules, then a new system has to be put in place.

Summary
The blooming twyre dizzies, but the point of touch is grounding.
His words, still, come clouded and vague, “This has happened before.”
“Not like this,” Artemy’s voice is rough and curt. Hopeful again. “You never stayed.”
He blinks. “I can’t stay. It’s not how this works.”
[Or; Daniil starts remembering.]
