- and the role a little sister has towards her avoidant older brother

- the skies here do say a lot about the mood and tone of the fic

- just.. this group. the bonds. the way they persist in spite/despite it
- and how they percieve growth within the group structure rather than (travelling) alone

- in which i am baffled and surprised that pre-gym takeback had such minimal drama

- purpose towards the public. and that informs the way he interacts with those who knows

- very much 'who are you?' questions in this fic for sure
- and what does courage mean. facing fears? lies? misconceptions?
- as well as finding meaning in what you know rather than the unknown

- just arghghgh they scratch my brain in a way that i can't really word just yet

Summary
ash has finally arrived in kalos, the region of beauty, flashing lights, and a disquieting history— and he's bright-eyed and ready to seize the day! he's [dead] serious about winning the league this time, and nothing is gonna stop him. this naturally draws in other people, namely the young inventor clemont (who's totally not someone important at all!), his younger sister Bonnie (who wants too many things to even start, don't even go there—) and new trainer serena (who totally wasn't running away from home or anything!). the group travel their way around the region, meeting new rivals and new strategies, different dreams and the many pathways to get there, a strange phenomena along with a hidden group making themselves known, and maybe even a version of themselves that they can be proud of.
life, death, and everything in-between. the forest is watching you, a strange aura follows along closely and there's going to be a point where you've gotta choose.
