Summary
Every day Lady Noire forces herself to take on the burden of superhero and continue fighting against a villain who is destroying for a city that hates her. It becomes difficult, with the miraculous' powers acting up and the physical toll of her health, of her internal and online and external battles that she never seems to win. She hates seeing Mister Bug, always off to the side, making fun of her--except she fails to notice when he stops, because by then, the burden that she had thrusted onto her has become much too heavy on her, and it's a challenge to just get out of bed every morning and face her classmates. She wants to defeat Shadowmoth one day, truly, because then everyone would learn to love her and accept her, but it becomes too late when one action makes her world spiral downward.
Now, she must deal with a life-long event, and all the while, she must take down a man terrorizing a city where she seems to be very limited on supporters, the numbers growing smaller every day.
Sometimes, when she's alone, she wishes she wasn't Lady Noire. She wishes she was just a normal teenage girl again. But she can never really have what she wants, can she?

Something was off about her tone, but he forged through. “How are you? I haven’t seen you in forever.You look great.”
Marinette blinked at Adrien as if she’d never seen him before in her life. “I’m sorry, who are you?”
After graduation and the defeat of Hawkmoth, Adrien gives up his miraculous and leaves Paris. Two years later, he returns to find Ladybug and reconnect with his friends - and runs into his old high school classmate, Marinette. Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to remember him.

“She was making out with me!”

Me: Okay brain, what new fic ideas do you have for me today? I’m thinking angst.
Brain: Oh, I’ve got a great one! How about Marinette finds out that Adrien is Chat Noir and finally works up the courage to confess her feelings to him. Of course, he doesn’t know she’s Ladybug so he rejects her as kindly as possible. Marinette, in a moment of panic, admits that she’s Ladybug to him but he doesn’t believe her. The next day, Chloe (having overheard the last part of their conversation) starts berating her in front of the whole class for claiming that she’s Ladybug just to win Adrien’s affections.
