Yoongi’s eyes were on him like a whip cracking, piercing Hoseok with an abrupt look. They were shaped in such a specific way, they seemed almost catlike, and for the purpose of not being the one to cave first, Hoseok stared right back, unwavering. They held each other like that for a beat too long. Long enough that the air in the room shifted, and Namjoon coughed behind his hand, scooting inward to insert a discreet elbow between Hoseok’s ribs.
Maybe Yoongi noticed. The corner of his mouth lifted, a self-satisfied smirk. “Well, that’s just a lie.”
That was all Hoseok needed to hear. He didn’t like being called a liar. He didn’t like New York. He certainly didn’t like people with bad taste in music.
So from that moment onward, he did not like Yoongi Min.

When Hoseok looks at him, all Yoongi can see is heartbreak so evident it hurts like a hundred knives to his back. This must be what it feels like to hold someone for the last time and realise that this is all you’re ever going to get.
This is what the Earth must have felt like when the continents drifted farther and farther away from each other until Pangea ceased to exist.
