There were hundreds if not a thousand other travellers that had been put out, it was not like Bruce and Tim alone were a little uncomfortable.
Then again, those unrelenting lights alone might very well be enough to trigger a seizure, especially when exhaustion and stress that was normal when traveling factored into everything.
It had been on Tim’s insistence that they’d traveled like this to begin with, rightfully pointing out that it had been a long time since Bruce Wayne had been seen traveling for work or for pleasure. They could have instead chartered a private plane or simply used the Batplane to get to California for the conference but as it was, they were now stuck here.
Tim made a small sound and Bruce shifted a little, keeping Tim steady.
When Tim’s head dipped a little, Bruce gently readjusted him but it soon dropped down again.
“I’m right here, Lad,” Bruce mumbled.
If Tim could still hear him, he gave no sign, but Bruce spoke to his son all the same. It was always possible that Tim was either partially or fully aware of his surroundings, especially in his smaller medical episodes like this one.

Bruce’s hand closed around yet another object. Bruce didn’t quite understand when he pulled it out. It was a rather small sneaker. The colors, once bright, were faded. Two velcro straps were bent and kinked into a twisted shape. There was lint on the velcro rendering it useless. Bruce had the vague memory of Dick picking the shoes out nearly a month after he’d first moved in. But Bruce felt that the memory couldn’t be true. They were surely too small.

The kitchen pantry was dark, only the glow from the refrigerator lit the small yet obnoxiously organized space. Every shelf and cupboard was meticulously laid out.
Dick didn’t understand, he had never had to search before. It should be there, right next to the frozen pie crusts. It had been there for years. That was his spot. Yet, Dick had picked up each crust, and searched every bin, dated and labeled in Alfred’s neat pen.
It had to be here somewhere.

He whined, unable to stop the pathetic noise, wishing for nothing more than for Alfred to just turn around and walk away. Wishing that Alfred would just leave him to his misery already, leave him to deal with this by himself.
Alfred did no such thing, simply offering up a cool cloth so that Tim could wipe his face and mouth.
Tim’s hand trembled, nearly dropping the cloth, his eyes stinging at the knowledge that Alfred would never again look at him the same way. Now Alfred knew just how pathetic Tim was, there was no coming back from that.
He shouldn’t have stayed after patrol.
He should have just gone home but it had been so comfortable on the Wayne’s couch that it had felt impossible to pull himself away from it until all of a sudden he had awoken with a start and with the desperate need to purge his body of every single thing he had eaten over the last century.
Well, Tim hadn’t been a thing for a century yet, but the point still stands.

A kidnapping is nothing new for the vigilantes of Gotham and Bludhaven. It's not even the fifth time it's happened. But as the two oldest brothers are ripped away from the family, it becomes abundantly clear they aren't deal with their usual rogues. Something much more nefarious has found a home in Gotham and does not pull its punches against the vigilantes.
Or
Dick and Jason are both kidnapped and the rest of the family struggles to find them. Resulting torture/medical experimentation and rescue. Hurt with comfort (eventually).

The boy had been living with him for a year now, and Bruce had promised himself to be vigilant and committed to taking care of him and guiding him. He'd made Dick his number one mission, both as Bruce and Batman, and though injuries were bound to happen when he was training the boy to be a crimefighter, for something like this to happen under his very nose…
AKA Dick's appendix ruptures and he has to get emergency surgery. Bruce is not doing okay.

Summary
Dick’s eyes, normally bright and sharp, are glazed over in pain, though they still manage to trail over to Jason, the only visible sign he’s actually awake. Another gob of blood leaks from his mouth, landing with a splat into the half-congealed puddle on the floor, and Jason takes a deep breath in through his nose.
He has, in his time as both Robin and Red Hood, seen all manners of injuries. Gross ones. Gruesome ones. They all have. Looking at Dick now, he can see at least six things that’d make a regular person’s stomach turn, but only one that’s got Jason nauseous.

Tim’s pretty sure that Jason hates him.
Granted, Jason hadn’t seemed to hate him yesterday and Tim has no idea what he did to cause Jason to come to this conclusion today— (and it’s not like Tim hasn’t been racking his brain for the answer to that very question ever since he woke up)— but the signs have been there all morning and the signs never lie. The sullen mood, the closed-off body language, the vague grunts and one-word responses to Tim’s few attempts at conversation… they all point to a singular conclusion.
