Himmel, upon realizing that he would die and pass on, knew that he had to leave Frieren with something to help her remember them. He, Heither, and Eisen would pass long before she would.
He loved her too much to let her live on without anything but her memory. He wanted her to have a smile awaiting her, a warm meal, and a new memory along with the nostalgia. He wanted her to keep that warmth that he’d seen her grow.
It didn’t matter if he never got to see it as long as she kept it.
The man in the cafe looked up, surprised, as the short woman slid in across from him.
“It took you long enough.” She said, pushing a braided pigtail behind her shoulder.
“Do I know you?” He asked, trying to place her.
