I don’t know if you were expecting a letter from me. We haven’t had a lot of one-on-one time throughout our friendship. I’m kind of disappointed by that. You’ve always tried, and I didn’t give in to it. But you’ve still been nice, inviting me to your dumb games, asking me whether you could do anything to cheer me up. Would this help? Would that hurt? It wasn’t remotely helpful, but it was very you.

"What!” Gareth exclaimed. ”Do you think that he was trying to make fun of you?”
“I’m not sure. He said that he meant fake dating. He thought it was the best way to prove he’s changed and to piss off dear old dad.”
“What did he say when you said no?...You said no right?”
”He said he would help me study!”
"Pretending to date the boy that you’ve had a crush on for years can't end well.”
Eddie shrugged. “Even if it’s just pretend, if this is the only way I get to have him it will be worth it.”

Steve's parents want him to become worthy of the Harrington name. Stop hanging around the kids, stop talking to delinquents and losers. Apply to college and finally start down the path his father had paved.
So of course, Steve starts dating Eddie Munson.
Fake date, of course. He just needs to show his parents they can't control him, and show Hawkins that he's not King Steve anymore.
Eight weeks to get to know Eddie and achieve his goals. He'll leave those two months with more freedom, less glares, and hopefully a new friend. Nothing could go wrong, right?

Summary
Batty and Jeffery had known each other for 15 years. Throughout that time there had been bonding, shared interests, and most importantly lots of jokes about how Jeffery could marry Batty.
There had been changes in their relationship, from sort-of friends, to a hero and the little girl he saved, to brand new harmonica player and the boy that was teaching her it to everyones' chagrin, to a mentee and her mentore that listened to her when no one really did. They had always had a different relationship than Jeffery had with her siblings but the only people that really picked up on that were those same siblings.
Like scenes from one of Ben's movies here are snapshots of how Batty and Jeffery's relationship changed even further till they reached what they had always been meant to be.
As was said so long ago, Jeffery held pieces of Batty's soul from every time he saved her, physically or emotionally, that demanded some sort of action

Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Summary
Eddie misses Tennessee sometimes, though he doesn’t remember much. He misses the warmth of the people and the sunshine, he misses the cornbread his old neighbor Mrs. Carter used to make, but he mostly misses his mom. Misses her laugh and the way she tucked him into bed with a song every night, always with the same Dolly Parton song.
Maybe that’s why he always reaches out to Dolly when he’s feeling down in the dumps.
And all because of Steve motherfuckin’ Harrington.

Summary
Even though Eddie's name has been cleared legally, he's still very much on trial in the court of public opinion. Dealing drugs isn't a lucrative occupation anymore, and getting a legitimate job in a town who still considers him a killer isn't much of an option, either. Eddie is beginning to think skipping town and starting over somewhere no one knows his name is the only chance he has left. Steve has another idea.
AKA: Steve gets Eddie a job as an anonymous columnist at a local newspaper.
