Mjöllnir has a consciousness. In one reality, the hammer took those words at face value. In another, he took it to be a direction, to find one of worth to be wielded by.
Which is how Mjöllnir, hammer of the god Thor, ends up in an elementary school in Queens. Because Peter Benjamin Park, a geeky 9-year-old with a heart of gold, is nothing if not worthy.
Thor's fall to Earth is guided by his trusty hammer. Lost and powerless in this strange land of York, Thor is taken in by two tiny mortals: Ned Leeds, son of Mr. Leeds, and Peter Parker, nephew of Ben. Though he has lived many of Midgard centuries, these children have much to teach him.

Summary
One soul was created for connection: a twin from a large, loving family who lived and loved with all he had. Another soul was created longing for connection: lonely, separated from the magic and the deep love that all but consumed her. It was meant to be, for, in this reality, magic would not leave it up to chance.
Or: in a Wizarding World where Soulmates are a real, though rare, phenomenon, Fred Weasley meets little Hermione Granger and knows she is meant for him. He just needs to figure out how to convince her of that.
A series re-write, re-imagining with Fred (and George) in on the adventures. Deviates from Canon more as Fred and Hermione's Soul bond impacts the original events

Emrys Merlin, a tomboyish and awkward little girl, was raised in the Muggle world. Then she gets a letter proclaiming that she has been accepted to Hogwarts. Magic and wonder await her, but so danger and darkness.
History repeats itself and magic never dies.

“Merlin, what is in your hair?” Gaius asks - rather judgmentally, Merlin thinks. It’s not as though Gaius can turn into a bird, making his opinion irrelevant. Everyone’s opinions shall now be irrelevant to him unless they can turn into birds, he decides. He puts a hand to his hair and feels a leaf.
(So this is a very canon-inaccurate sort of re-telling, with some big divergences, minus a dragon or prophecy or two)
