Loid Forger rests his head on Yor’s shoulder and closes his eyes, trying to memorize the scent of her sweet perfume. Or shampoo. It doesn’t matter. She smells of pine and citrus. He might never smell it again, might never return home to his wife. Tomorrow, he must kill the Thorn Princess, or the Thorn Princess will kill him.
Yor Forger buries her fingers in Loid’s hair, stroking the back of his neck with quiet support. She is glad to know this man appeared in her life; he is so perfect for someone as imperfect as her. But this unequal marriage could fall apart if she loses. Tomorrow, she must kill Twilight, or Twilight will kill her.

The man walks through Berlint and pretends he's whole, for the mission, but he left half of himself bleeding in that street.

Taking a deep breath, she slowly walks in, the bell announcing her presence as she enters.
As soon as she stepped a single foot inside, her senses kicked in. She felt a shiver down her spine; a strange sensation rippled through her skin, one she hadn’t felt in quite some time.
She swiftly turned her head, her hair whipping behind her. Red eyes locked onto the target like a heat-seeking missile.
Her face quickly paled.
There he was, staring right back at her.
The source of her anguish.
Her husband.
TLDR: After the unceremonious end of Operation Strix, Loid comes back with the milk after being gone for 2 years with no explanation. But he sure has a LOT of explaining to do to his wife.
