Summary
Shane stares up at him, awestruck. “You’re an angel.”
Ilya freezes.
“…What.”
“An actual angel,” Shane insists, reaching up with clumsy reverence and cupping Ilya’s face. “They sent you down. Because I’m—” he swallows hard, suddenly emotional, “—I’m such a good person.”
Ilya blinks at him.

Who.
Who taught Shane about this.
Ilya is going to kill someone, and then himself. Not Shane. Never Shane. But he is going to have to kill someone with his bare hands.
Or: Shane invents advanced blowjob positions with his own beautiful freaky mind, thereby unintentionally turning Ilya into a danger to himself and others.

Summary
“You haven’t been with anyone since last time, right?” Shane asks.
Of course he hasn’t; once Shane held him in that Tampa hotel room, the thought of touching anyone else broke his heart.
“And I haven’t either,” Shane continues. “So maybe next time we don’t have to, you know…use a condom.”

Summary
Slivers of sunlight peek into darkness through the gaps between blackout curtains. In the corner, a white noise machine gently whirls and rushes like the tide over the beach. An alarm chirps on a bedside table.
No one is there to silence it.
A portable speaker sat dead next to a charging cord. A sock was abandoned on the floor behind the clothes hamper. And a Polaroid was buried in the pocket of a hoodie in the dresser.
A clatter can be heard from the kitchen—two voices but one laughter. Perhaps this sound was the source of the rumpled sheets that lay in a pile on the bed. Coffee cups that sported the numbers 2 and 71 cooled on the counter, forgotten between burning toast and discussion about which avocado was riper.
