“Yeah, teaching dance. It’s not like I’m going to be lifeguarding.” They grimace in tandem; his skin is not cut out for that much sun. “Besides, you used to love camp.”
As a dance instructor for the junior campers rather than a program participant himself, he’ll have a lot more freedom, with none of the late-night responsibility and lack of privacy that would come with being a counselor. An entire summer with Kelsi and without Sharpay, something he’s literally never experienced in his life—it feels too good to be true.

See, the thing about rumors, or the thing about Clay and his gay rumors, more accurately, is that they tended to be a lie about a truth. Like something somewhere in them was true but they were somehow, never true. And once he'd fallen for Hannah and the rumors started to fade, it didn't seem necessary to start exploring any ideas he might have had.
The thing about gay rumors, Tony thought, or the thing about him and his gay rumors, was that they made things simpler. He didn’t really need to have any sort of grand coming out. He just — started dating Ryan and let the school do it’s work. And no one really said much to him, but he didn’t spend much time with the sort of people who would.

SPOILERS FOR THE SHOW
There will be multiple chaptersClay Jensen was the last person that everyone expected to attempt suicide, but then again, nobody expected Alex or Hannah to do it either. Three times the charm doesn't work in this case.
One day Tony comes over Clay's to check up on him and finds him in a pool of his own blood, just in time to get him to the hospital. The next day Clay's recorded suicide note arrives at Tony's door.
Now he must find out why his friend tried to kill himself, help him heal in the process, and try to understand why the hell Justin Foley keeps showing up in Clay's hospital room.
