Summary
It's the first winter after Pitch's defeat. Jack is happy, he's not alone anymore, and his memories are gradually returning. But when a treasure hunt gone wrong puts Jack and Jamie in danger, flinging them through time and space, they find themselves on an island neither of them have heard of before. Jack's first priority is to get Jamie home safe, but Berk's inhabitants - human and otherwise - are certainly not making it easy.
Knowing they will leave Berk and the Vikings behind as soon as they know how to, Jack is not going to risk the pain of growing close to any of these people (or dragons, for that matter). But Hiccup Horrendous Haddock, wearing his heart on his sleeve, doesn't seem to want to take the hint.

holy fucking shirtballs.
this fic feels like a book you pick in the library as a kid because you liked the cover that changes your life inside and out, staying with you so thoroughly that you remember the plot line years and years and years later, that you never find again once you’ve returned it because you lost the title and google isn’t being helpful.
thankfully bookmarks exist and i’m not a kid anymore— because WOW. WOW!!!! i am just utterly blown away by this entire 44 chapter fic. not once are you bored or left wanting more. it’s an extremely satisfying ending, with an incredibly believeable magic system and incredible prose tying the ribbon on top. i got CHILLS so many times reading this. it definitely deserves all the hype. adore the romance, too. i feel like i was the one who was sent back in time.
also, if you squint, the lightest traces of other princesses are scattered throughout the story. unsure if that was intentional, because mermaids and girls trapped on islands are tales as old as Jack Frost and Hiccup Haddock, but i loved that too— how many incredible and well fleshed out character there are. it truly makes it feel like a great big adventure.

Hayden skates off the rink, barely pausing as he starts stripping off his gear. Coach surges forward, lips curled up with some order to get back out there, no doubt. He doesn’t give him the chance, “I’m not leaving him. I go where he goes.”
