“it can’t be that bad,” you said, trying to be supportive. “just say it. it’s not gonna change anything for me.”
“yes it will,” he said, and you suddenly noticed he was crying. you stood up then, too, and cal froze, shoulders shaking. you put a hand on his back and he turned, arms enveloping you, head buried in your neck, his tears wetting your t-shirt. you held him as he cried. “you’ll - you’ll hate me.”
“nothing could ever make me hate you,” you said immediately, heart breaking for the boy you’d quietly loved for years. he looked up at you in the embrace, tear-stained lashes so close.
“i’m trans,” he whispered suddenly.
