“Wait!”
The nameless soldier froze immediately, stiff and unmoving as stone.
Xie Lian was still shaken. He only had half the mind to know he shouldn’t let the ghost just leave, but even after calling out to him, he didn’t know what to say. His mind was racing, a million questions buzzing in his head all at once.
But,
This he had to know.
“Wu Ming, how.. long have you been here?”
If it were anyone else, perhaps they would have missed the slight flinch that came from the ghost at the question. But despite his long banishment, Xie Lian never lost the keen senses of the Flower Crowned Martial God. In truth, that reaction alone may have given him his answer.
Wu Ming faced towards him, head dutifully bowed.
“Your Highness, your servant has remained here since the day you told him to stay here and keep from following you.”

800 years ago, after a turn of events, Xie Lian tells Wu Ming to stop following him.
800 years later, Xie Lian stumbles upon a strangely familiar place, only to find a strangely familiar ghost kneeling on the ground, unmoving.
