Summary
Anakt’s 50th class have a field trip to the beach.
“The sky opening up,” Ivan said, “could explain the state after a heavy rainpour, the beginning rays of the sun shining through after an insistent darkness.” Thoughtfully, his eyes had glanced in Till’s direction before turning back to the ceiling above them, where a pixel in the middle of a static cloud flickered. “It was also, some believed, a description of an event that happened during the end of everything. A remaking of sorts. A splitting of the world. Fascinating, no?”
One of Till’s hands had cupped itself over the other, rubbing at each of his knuckles in turn. They’re not too different, he thought. An ending to all of this would be a kind of clearing too.

Summary
Till and Ivan find a new way to talk things out.
There was always, between them, the looming understanding that ground rules hardly served as ground rules as much as they did mild suggestions or, if Ivan was being particularly irritating, petty challenges.
Don't leave marks above the collarbone or past the elbow. Don’t touch the ribs poking out of my sides. Don’t press your thumb against my snaggletooth. Don't scrape my nails when I’ve painted them. Don’t order me around. Don't touch my piercings. Don’t say my name when you come. Don’t stop just because you noticed me crying. Don’t stare. Don’t look at me like that. God, please, don’t look at me like that.

Summary
Till seems to be repeating all the same steps from when he was a child in the entirely wrong order.
Does it hurt, he would like to imagine Ivan asking when he speaks next. Till would like to roll his eyes and scoff and say, Has it ever not? What’s new? His eyes trace the curve of Ivan’s back which straightens and bends repeatedly. His hand rubs at it incessantly. There is a minute wince on his face that Till barely catches before it’s forced into the corners of a tight smile. What about you? Till wants to say back. Does it hurt?

Summary
Till is weaker to Ivan's unusual requests than he'd like to admit.
Ivan had mumbled something inaudible with his cheek pressed against his shoulder. After a minute of Till trying to make sense of it, Ivan repeated, “Sit on me.” Then added a polite, “Please.”
“Uh,” Till said smartly. “Um.”

Summary
Till isn't a big fan of this new regular.
“So, what do you work as?” he asks as Till hands him the card reader. If he feels any latent embarrassment at the question, he doesn’t let it show.
As the receipt prints itself out, Till, behind the counter of the coffee shop, stares and blinks once. “A barista,” he says, sharply ripping the receipt out.
Ivan laughs. “Right, of course.” What the hell does this guy want?

Summary
It has been three weeks and two nights since they first spoke, if one could call whatever that was a conversation. Two weeks and six days since they first exchanged punches.
About twelve minutes and fifty-seven seconds since they undressed down to nothing and surrendered to the lukewarm water.

Summary
“Your freak,” Luka begins, as Till’s face reddens at the realisation of his slip-up, “Is right there, in the sink you keep glaring daggers into,”
“Hah,” Till deadpans, “That’s funny. So funny. Wow, Ivan, you got me. You’re so funny. Quit modelling, pursue a stand-up career,” He fake laughs extra hard for emphasis.
The room stays silent. The child sneezes. It’s fucking adorable.
Ivan inexplicably turns into a five-year-old. Till deals with this better than he deals with his feelings for the child's fully grown counterpart.

Summary
"Are you ill?" Ivan says instead of Mizi switched pillows with Sua this morning, Till's cheek nestled on his shoulder. It must be grave. Life-threatening, even.
"Are you sick?" Till answers without looking, still sketching, sharp, precise lines. Far be it for Ivan to question the genius artist, creative re-interpretations were never his strongsuit, but even Ivan knows Mizi's glasses are not triangular. "You're the one who got warm all over."
Till is being... unusually clingy. For Ivan, it's a problem.

Summary
‘Tiiiiiiiill,’ Ivan sends, and Till already knows he’s fucked. ‘I get a free day next week!! Let’s meet up!’ he says, then forwards a pathetic gif of a puppy with the wettest eyes ever looking up at Till’s perplexed stare.
This is a trick. Till should say no. Till should acknowledge that he’s been acting really weird about his best friend lately and that he has to get normal before they see each other again. Till should tell Ivan to spend his once-in-a-blue-moon free day relaxing at a spa—a spa? Till frowns. People would get so fucking weird about that. He should go somewhere else where clothes are involved. Skiing sounds better—and not slouching at Till’s ass dorm. Till should get a grip.
‘Please? :((’
Goddammit.
Five times Till loses his mind over Ivan's waist, and one time he does something about it.

Summary
Initially, your ghost may still be dressed in the well-ironed suit from the day of their burial, with a few specks of dirt here and there. You might have imagined him dressed like this in a different setting. A dance or a wedding. You placing his hand in someone else's, giving him away. Giving him away, you say, as if he were ever yours. Still, you would have liked to do your part, telling the story about the flower crowns, smiling in all the right places. He, soft-eyed in the crowd, hair parted to the side. Looking every bit like someone's handsome, loving son.
In the end, when you gave him away, he still looked as handsome. Perhaps it is a good thing that best man speeches can be made into eulogies with only a few edits.
(Or: There is a ghost at Ivan's doorstep, and it has a familiar face.)
