Summary
The ARK was falling. The world was ending. Shadow was dying.
Sonic couldn't save him, and the memory haunts him. He failed, and across the bond, he had felt the dark hedgehog's life leech out. But the world was saved, and so continues to spin on; Sonic, despite it all, persists, left in a limbo he can't even name. His friends rally around him and try to draw him back out to the unshakeable, sunny speedster they all know; but none of them were there, none of them felt the bond forged in pure Chaos energy-
But, what better to lift his mood than a festival? And Earth has a special one coming up- the Fire in the Sky Festival, held once every 50 years to celebrate the close approach passing of the Black Comet.

Summary
A year after defeating Black Doom, Shadow the Hedgehog had grown tired of the endless battles and unwanted attention. Longing for solitude, he sought to vanish from the public eye, retreating into obscurity where he felt he truly belonged. Shadow saw his purpose as the Ultimate Lifeform to be one of protection, emerging only when the world was in genuine danger. His promise to Maria and his own desire for peace fueled this decision, driving him to distance himself from the chaos.
However, Sonic the Hedgehog felt differently. He had scoured the world in search of his former rival, determined to reconnect with the enigmatic hedgehog. And after everything that had transpired during Shadow's absence, Sonic realized that Shadow might be the only one who could truly understand what he was going through. In the wake of recent events, the blue blur found himself in need of someone he could be candid with—someone who, like him, carried a certain weight forced upon their shoulders.
