Summary
Four years ago, King Cepheus lost a war against Prince Perseus of the Kykladic Islands. It cost him most of the gold in his treasury and his only daughter. Only one of those losses stung.
Now, Prince Perseus has been crowned King, and King Cepheus has been summoned to pay his respects, make his apologies, and pay tribute once again.

Percy Jackson dies in December. In the purgatory between Christmas and New Years. The sea is eerily calm that day, despite the winter weather, as if holding its breath, waiting. The tides are record breaking low, the ocean pulling back and bracing for what is to come.
‘Poseidon loves his son.’ The Naiads whisper, ‘for this, he will not stand.’
‘Poseidon loves his son.’ The waves chatter as they wait with baited breath.
Or: Percy becomes a god and Annabeth deals with the aftermath.

Summary
The strings of fate were messy. They were constantly weaving and tying and knotting together – it was all too easy for something to go wrong, for something to get tangled in the evermoving threads.
Odysseus was sinking.
He had lost, right at the end of his journey. He was plummeting towards the bottom of the sea, the hands of the fallen dragging him downwards.
Until, suddenly, he fell through.
Or
Odysseus appears on a bus alongside two young demigods and a satyr right at the start of their first quest. Finding himself with a strange tie to one of them, and no way to get home, there wasn't much else to do other than follow along.

Summary
“Where are you from?” Annabeth asked Percy.
He jerked his gaze from the NYC skyline to her. He opened his mouth, then closed it. He looked back out to the city and Annabeth swore there was something sad in his eyes. “Not from here,” he said softly.
“Not really an answer.”
His jaw clenched and he took a moment to come up with an answer. A lie. “My father has property in the country. It’s not really near anything. It was… isolated.”
“So why come here?” she asked. “If you were doing so fine on your father’s property.”
Now Percy turned to her, frowning. She didn’t like the way his eyes seemed to be trying to read her. Good luck. In the end he just shook his head and turned away. “Not always so nice. And I wanted to find— family, I guess.”
“Family?” Annabeth asked skeptically.
He shrugged. “Isn’t that what demigods are?”
“Family is a lie,” Annabeth told him bluntly.
