“I love house hunting!” Wei Ying blurted out, cleaning a drop of coffee from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. “I mean. I know a lot of places nearby that are up for renting, so it wouldn’t be imposing. I’m free most mornings, anyways, and I would feel better to know that a fellow citizen isn’t walking around clueless to where he is going. Natal is great, but you have to be aware of where you’re stepping. Unless you really don’t want company, then feel free to ignore me, I know I can come across as pushy, so don’t worry about telling me to fuck off.”
“I don’t mind. It would be nice, being able to talk to someone without taking five minutes just to figure out a word.” Lan Zhan looked a bit dazed by Wei Ying’s rambling, probably a guy not used to blabbermouths such as he. “And I wouldn’t” at Wei Ying’s questioning gaze, he continued “be clueless. I can use google maps.”

Wei Ying is an automotive engineer living in Natal for the past two years, Lan Zhan a professor recently arrived. Neither one knows what they should be doing with their lives or how to deal with their past issues, but maybe while breathing the best air that Brazil can offer, they might be able to figure it out together.

He remembers their last hook up, a month or so before this. He thinks that’s where his brain had started to go on the fritz. When he’d just finished blowing Ilya in the shower and Ilya had hit him with ‘You need to get laid, Hollander. Waiting for a quick fuck every couple of months is not healthy.’ Shane had acted all indignant and puffy, but only because Ilya had hit a bit too close to home with that, and he’d been so cavalier about it too. Because yeah, maybe Shane had never made a conscious decision to do it, but he felt like he only existed in short hour long snippets when he could slip away and be with Ilya. And that fucking terrified him.
Then because Ilya was Ilya, he had to one, two punch him by saying, ‘I have ruined you. No one else would do.’ And Shane had to lock that deep in the caverns of his mind because of how true those words rang. He didn’t want it to be true, but it was.
“I think, maybe, this whole thing is starting to mean something different to me.”
