She hugs her sister tightly around her shoulders. So tightly that Mai lets go of the ends of the blanket, and it falls to the floor. In the silence of the night, she can hear the snow falling outside the window and Mai’s small, fist-sized, warm heart beating.
Maki knows that they will never, ever part. Even if Mai annoys her sometimes.
