Your mother and guardian say you can’t participate in extracurriculars until you prove you’re capable of taking care of all your regular work on your own, without any assistance or reminders. That means completing homework and chores with enough free time to reasonably fit a full, separate activity.
You’ve started gamifying it to motivate yourself, imagining the shortcuts you take from class as a speedrun strat, no-clipping through seedy alleyways and fluttering over hedge barriers.
Once you arrive home, you make quick work of your chores, take a shower, do your homework, and eat dinner. You think you’re on the verge of getting a new best time. Maybe you can ask your parents to enroll you in a language class, or fencing, or martial arts, or e-sports! That’d be such an epic win. But until you can get your average daily block of free time up to three hours, you’re expected to stay home and “help the family.” Argh.
At least you have sweet, sweet Vapor games to keep you company…
