The implication hung heavy in the warm air. Caitlyn winced —a quick flicker of professional distaste. The whole idea felt exhausting, like another high-pressure social interaction she was obligated to attend.
“I appreciate the offer,” Caitlyn stated flatly, setting her own untouched glass down with a decisive click. “But I am not interested in the ‘forget everything’ option. I am here under duress, and I wish to be clear: physical involvement is off the table.”
Caitlyn was so wrong with that one.

Chapter 1: On the eve of Prince Aegon's birth, King Viserys (completely oblivious to certain minor details, like the entire court questioning his son's paternity and the suspicious closeness between his Queen and heir) celebrates with a grand royal hunt.
Unfortunately, the joyous occasion is cut short with an entirely coincidental (totally not orchestrated by Otto Hightower no matter what this court says!) accident leaving the King permanently out of the fatherhood game.
Chapter 2: Alicent is giving birth to Aegon. The birth is far more difficult than anyone imagined.
“In the event that a turning fails... there is a chance we may save the child,” Mellos said, his eyes downcast. “A technique, taught at the Citadel… it involves cutting directly into the womb to free the- ack!"
That was as far as the Grand Maseter got before Rhaenyra violently took him by the throat.
