Will exhales sharply, “We’re friends. We’re friends! You made sure of that. So I don’t know why you’re so mad at me!”
“Because it was supposed to be me!”
Will blinks, “What are you talking about?”
“I’m mad because it was supposed to be me!” Mike shouts it desperately, like a plea, like this is making him go crazy, and fuck, maybe it is, “After everything—at the end—it was meant to be me. Not him. I don’t want it to be him. I want it to be me.”
Or, Mike doesn't realize his own feelings, until Will's are staring him dead in the face. Vecna's gone, they're nearing the end of their senior year, and all of a sudden Will has a boyfriend. Everything goes downhill pretty quickly from there.

“Oh, right..” Will responds face blushing to a dark pink.
“Why?” Mike asks standing back up.
“No, no, it’s nothing- it’s stupid.” Will says quickly, he definitely wasn’t thinking Mike could sleep with him.. or anything.. like that.
“Okay.” Mike nods but his eyebrows are furrowed and he seems unsure of something. “You know you can talk to me right?”

“It makes you look like your dad. That isn’t my Mike.” Will whispers with wide eyes, tapping vigorously on the left side of his own chest to emphasize his point. Mike’s heart pounds. He debates his response, debates admitting that he will always be Will’s Mike because he is always going to be Will’s, but instead, he averts his eyes and backs away, Carlton’s face haunting his mind.
